Mailing / Shipping Quilts

A few things you should know before sending your quilt to Nadia Wilson Designs:

1. Please contact Nadia Wilson before sending a quilt.
2. Pieced top should be pressed, clean and free of offensive odours. Ensure top seams are pressed as neatly as possible. Bulky seams can result in a broken needle. Check and repair any open seams on top.
3. Ensure the borders on the pieced top are flat and square and stay stitch the outside edge of your top to provide stability (especially important if your borders have seams right to the edges).
4. No need to baste your quilt layers together. Send them in the same box folded neatly.
5. Clip loose threads from both sides of pieced top and from the backing.
6. Be sure your backing is at least 10" wider and 10" longer (5" on each side). I have several wide back fabrics in stock for your convenience.
7. If your backing has a seam, or more than one seam, be sure they are straight. Remove all selvages from pieced backings, use a ½” seam allowance and press open.
8. Backing must be squared and pressed.
9. If you provide the batting, it must measure minimum 9” wider and 9” longer than top (4 1/2” on each side). If your quilt will require special treatments, or you are supplying a puffy batt, more than 4 1/2” in length may be required on larger quilts. Please note that some batts aren’t suitable for longarm quilting. Check with Nadia to see if the batt you have in mind is suitable before sending it.
10. Identify the top of your quilt and backing with a safety pin or piece of tape clearly marked “TOP”.
11. Include a signed
Work Order form in the parcel along with a deposit of $50.00.
12.  Include a signed
Marker Waiver form in your parcel along with the work order and $50 deposit, if your quilt requires custom or heirloom quilting.

Once your Quilt arrives:

1. I will contact you once your quilt arrives.
2. I will send you several estimates, unless we have already decided on a quilting plan. I will include a price for large over-all meander, E2E, custom, and heirloom in most circumstances.
3. We will discuss the quilting plan and before I begin quilting, you will know what type batting/backing I will use (if I am providing the batting/backing), what type and color thread I will be using and exactly what type quilting design I will use. If for any reason, I feel the need to deviate from our plan, I will discuss it with you beforehand.
4. You will know exactly what the quilting charges will be before I begin quilting. You will know what the quilting charges are, what the batting and/or backing charges are (if any) and what the shipping charges are (if any).
5. I will ask that final payment be sent to me by the time I am finished quilting and before shipping.

When the Quilt is Finished:

1. When the quilting is completed on your quilt, I will call/email you to be sure you are home to receive it.
2. I will ship the quilt back to you as per your request.
3. I ask that you let me know when the quilt arrives.

Thank you very much for considering me to do your quilting.

For deposits and/or final payments on quilting services,
Please send a $50 deposit cheque with your quilt top.  Please mail in a cheque or money order for the final payment once we have discussed the price.
