Learn How to Piece Tops - Beginner's Class
Okay, you've admired quilts for a long time and finally have decided you want to make a quilt. Where do you start? What do you need? Where do you buy fabrics? In this class you will piece a small quilt top, learning rotary cutting techniques, machine piecing - sewing an accurate 1/4" seam, and quilt assembly including binding to finish it off. You will make a sampler quilt…finished size approximately 40 1/2” x 54”. This is a machine piecing class.
During the last class I will demonstrate how to quilt the three layers together (pieced top, batting and backing) on my longarm quilting machine for anyone interested. This will be a fun, information packed set of classes, you will learn while having fun.
Class size: maximum 4 students, minimum 2 students. One three-hour class per week for four weeks, with some homework. Handouts included in class fee.
Required: a sewing machine in good working order, basic sewing supplies (includes a seam ripper, tape measure, extra sewing machine needles, fabric scissors, pins, seam guage or small ruler with 1/4" markings, extension cord, etc)

Students will have the use of my tools such as rotary cutter and mat, rulers, iron and ironing board etc. Not necessary to purchase these items before taking the class. I want students to feel comfortable in their abilities and in using the different tools before they purchase items they may not need or use once they are familiar with the process of piecing tops.
Material/Supply list are available once you have enrolled in the class...you can use cotton quilting fabrics you have at home, purchase your fabrics separately (I will give you a list of online and store front quilt fabric shops) or you can order a kit through me.
